He started in his home town with Constable Street Old Boys, but joined Leicester City as an amateur in July 1941, turning professional in March 1952. He had scored twice in six peacetime games for the Filbert Street team when he joined Leeds as part of the deal that took Ken Chisholm in the opposite direction on 30th December 1948. He gave Leeds solid service, after making his debut in January 1949, scoring fifty goals in one hundred and eighty-one games. He started as a Junior with Levski Sofia and turned professional with them, making his first team debut for them in the 1982-83 season and after playing eight League games that season he went on to become a regular and in the next six seasons he took his goals to eighteen and his League appearances to one hundred and eighty-two. In that time he won three championship medals and two cup-winners medals and was twice elected Bulgarian player of the year. He returned to the club in the 1992-93 season and scored seven times in fourteen League games as he won another championship medal and was elected player of the year for the third time in 1992. In between thos two spells he had moved to Vitosha Sofia and stayed there for four seasons, picking up another Cup-winners' medal in the first season of 1985-86 and another championship medal in his penultimate season of 1987-88 and scored fourteen goals in one hundred and seventeen League games. He then moved to Bologna, in Italy, scoring three times in twenty-eight League games before leaving in the early days of the 1990-91 season. This was when he had trials at Leeds and he played twice for the Reserves in late November, to early December 1990, giving way to Darryl Franklin at half-time in the second game. He joined Hertha Berlin and scored once in ten League games in 1991-92 before returning for one season with Levski Sofia. He then moved to France with Stadt Rennais where he could only manage five games in two seasons. He did, however, represent his country for many years and score four goals in forty-six starts and three appearances as a substitute and was captain on many occasions.

Son of Stuart Imlach the former Nottingham Forest and Scotland winger, he started his career as an apprentice with Everton before joining Preston North End in August 1980. He came to Leeds on trial and made his debut for the reserves as part of that process before being signed in November 1981. He made twenty starts and two substitute appearances but did not progress to the first team and left at the end of the season and was signed by Peterborough United in August 1982. He scored once in thirty-seven starts and five games from the bench before moving to Tranmere Rovers in August 1984. At Prenton Park he made just four starts.

5ft 9ins 9st 12lb. After gaining Irish Schools and Youth caps, while at Turners Cross College in Cork he joined Leeds as an Apprentice in February 1982. He made a good start with the Leeds Juniors and had graduated into the Reserve team and played two games before the end of his first season. He became a fairly regular player , mostly at right back for the Reserves in the 1982-83 season before making his first team debut in January 1984. He went on to score once in seventy-two starts. He was part of the nucleus of a fine young team that Eddie Gray built, but ,after the manager left, his successor, Billy Bremner, opted for experience and sold off many of the fine young players produced and reared by Gray. Irwin was one of those. He joined Oldham Athletic in May 1986 and went on to score four goals in one hundred and sixty-seven League appearances, of which one was from the bench before moving to Manchester United in June 1990 for £625,000 and went on to become an Old Trafford favourite and enjoyed their successes of that time, scoring twenty-three goals, mostly from the penalty spot, in three hundred and seventy League appearances of which just twelve were as a substitute. He also went on to gain three Under-Twenty-One, one Under-Twenty-Three, played for the "B" team and gained fifty-six full caps for the Republic of Ireland. He left Old Trafford on 23rd July 2002 and joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on a free transfer. He joined Leeds as a trainee in 1997 and started nine and came off the bench three times in League games for the Juniors in 1996-97 and came off the bench in the final Reserve game of that season. He saw little future at Elland Road, with the galaxy of stars they had available and he furthered his education at the University of North Carolina and had a very successful career in University football. The University was the top team and he was their captain and won the "Most Value Player Award" in his final season of 2001 with them. He joined Colorada Rapids for the 2002 season, but after just one game the club allowed him to join First Division Seattle Sounders for the 2003 season and he went on to captain the team from 2004-2008. He was selected as the Leagues "Defender of the year" and selected to the A-League First Team in 2003, but an ACL injury brought his career to a standstill. He went on to be the Captain of Seattle Sounders as they qualified for three USL Championship Finals (2004, 2005, 2007) and won two of them (2005, 2007). He scored twice in one hundred and thirteen League appearances for the Sounders. After his playing career came to an end in 2008, Jackson, who was always a reliable player and a fan favorite for Seattle, joined a company that provides services to the greater soccer community and he also had his own column for SoccerNation.com.

He became a regular with the Juniors in 1994-95 and continued in 1995-96, with some games for the Reserves and made his first team debut as a substitute in March 1996. He started eleven League games and came off the bench on eight more occasions before moving to Scunthorpe United in March 2000. While at Leeds he was twice loaned, firstly to Huddersfield Town in October 1998 where he started five League games, and then to Barnsley in January 200 where he started one League game. He had five seasons with the Irons, scoring four goals in one hundred and thirty-six League games, of which nine were from the bench, before joining Kidderminster Harriers in February 2005. One of four trialists that played in the final Reserve game of the 1990-1991 season, in the 0-4 defeat at Nottingham Forest. Little is known about his early career but after the trial he joined Scarborough from Worksop Town in August 1991 and started twelve and came off the bench once in the only Football League games of his career. He was signed in July 1995 by Boston United from Unibond Division One side, Worksop Town and he went on to score twice in thirty-eight starts in League games, before leaving at the end of the season. He had previously played for Worksop Town, Matlock Town and Scarborough.

He soon built a reputation as a free-scoring Forward and netted seventy-three goals in one hundred and thirty-four Scottish League games in less than five seasons, before joining Leeds on 13th March 1925. He soon started setting all kinds of goal-scoring records for Leeds in his Leeds career netted one hundred and seventeen goals in one hundred and seventy-four appearances. He left for Chester in June 1931 and there added another thirty-three goals in forty-eight League games in less than two seasons, before finishing his career with Bangor City. The 6ft 1ins 13st 5lb Central defender, twice capped by England "B", started in August 1981 at Burton Albion, and combined his football with studying for a degree at University, but Graham Taylor pursuaded him to go full-time with Watford and he signed for them on 5th November 1982 at a fee of £22,000. He scored four goals in twenty-eight League games, of which two were as a substitute. He then moved to Hull City for £40,000 on 7th February 1985 and scored seventeen goals in two hundred and twenty-one games, of which two were from the bench, before joining Oldham Athletic on 30th August 1990 for £460,000. He scored ten goals in one hundred and eighty-nine League games, of which one was as a substitute. Leeds paid £1 million for him on 26th October 1995, but he was blighted by injury in his time at Elland Road and scored only once in twenty-two League starts in two seasons. He was loaned to Southend United from 21st January to 8th March 1998, scoring once in eight starts in League games, before joining Manchester City on a free transfer on 10th March 1998 and scored four goals in fifty League games, of which one was as a substitute, in three season. He was then loaned to former club, Watford from 7th November to 7th December in 2000 and played two League games without scoring, before being loaned to Tranmere Rovers from 29th December 2000 to 1st March 2001 where he had six League starts without scoring before being transferred to them on a free transfer on 2nd March 2002 and making a further eleven League starts. Pupil of the Upper Wortley and then Cow Close Schools, he represented the Leeds City Boys and then Middleton Parkside before joining the Leeds Juniors and gaining England Youth honours. He was seventeen and 5ft 8ins and 10st 9lb when he signed professional on 28th February 1962. He was one of many fine prospects in that Junior squad and soon progressed through the Reserves and made his first team debut in September 1962. There was great competition for the places in the forward line and he could not establish himself, but was always a reliable replacement and Reserve team player. He scored six goals in twenty-five starts and five games from the bench before he left for Doncaster Rovers on 28th February 1968. He carved out for himself a very successful career with Yorkshire clubs scoring twenty-three goals in one hundred and six starts and one from the bench at Doncaster, before moving to Rotherham United in December 1970. At Millmoor he netted eight goals in one hundred and ten League games, including two from the bench, as he operated mainly in midfield. His final move was to Bradford City in December 1973 and he scored sixteen goals in one hundred and ninety starts and two games from the bench in League games before finally retiring after a spell in USA in 1979.(Leeds United Player Details)

A product of the Crewe Alexandra Academy which he joined straight from school, he turned professional in 1996 and had gained eight caps for the England Under-Eighteens before he was signed by Derby County for £3 million on 18th May 1999. He had scored seven times in a hundred and three appearances for Crewe of which seven were as a substitute. These were comprised of six League goals in ninety-two appearances of which three were from the bench, the other goal came from two starts in the F.A. Cup and he also started five League Cup games and played four other games as a substitute, without scoring. He had also represented England at Under-Twenty-One level twice, while still at Crewe. He had taken that tally to fourteen and had made his one and only appearance for the full England team by the time he was sold by the Rams for £7 million to Leeds United on 18th October 2001. While at Pride Park he scored twice in eighty-one appearances for Derby, of which two were from the bench, comprising two goals in seventy-three starts in the League, one substitute game in the F.A. Cup and six starts and one game from the bench in the League Cup. His time at Leeds was riddled by injury and, coupled with the cost in extra transfer fee payable to Derby on appearances, they were greatly curtailed and he finished up with four goals from forty three League starts and another eleven from the bench, together with no goals in three starts and one game from the bench in the F.A. Cup and one start in the League Cup. He added one more cap to his Under-Twenty-One collection taking them to fifteen. His situation was not for the benefit of either himself or his two most recent clubs and so it was no surprise that after he had been released by Leeds in August 2005, that he rejoined the Rams on a free transfer almost immediately. In his second spell at Pride Park he soon, once more, became the fans’ favourite and successfully resurrected his career. He ended on a high but his career was also ended when he played his final game for the club at Wembley Stadium, where he helped the club win promotion to the Premier League. However, during the play off final Johnson injured his knee, which was a huge blow to his chances of playing with Derby in the Premier League the following season. He made fifty-four starts for Derby in his second spell there and another eleven off the bench, and scored four times. Johnson attended Stuart Bathurst RC High School and after leaving he started with Leeds as a trainee in August 1999. He progressed through the junior teams and started playing and scoring regularly at reserve level. Leeds were well stocked for strikers at the time and he was loaned out to other clubs to get first-team experience. On 12th August 2002 he went to Hull City for a two months spell where he scored twice in a dozen League games, of which eight were from the bench, and one substitute appearance in the League Cup. The loan spell started well, when, on 13th August 2002 at Eastville, he made his debut as a substitute and scored the equaliser in the eighty-fifth minute in a 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers. After the loan spell it was then back to Elland Road and more games for the reserves until he got on the pitch as a seventy-eighth minute substitute in the famous 6-1 victory at Charlton Athletic on 5th April 2003. He was in the England Under-Twenty team for the Toulon Tournament in June 2003. It was off to Blackpool next on 12th December 2003 where he scored once in three starts and one game off the bench and played one game as a substitute in the F.A. Cup, before returning to Elland Road a month later. He had the odd game or came on as substitute but otherwise it was back to the Pontin’s League until he was next loaned out to Sunderland from 10th September to 24th October 2004, where he had four games from the bench and one start in the League, but all were goalless. It seemed as though Johnson was destined to leave Leeds, but could only find clubs who wanted to use his services on a strictly loan basis. On 6th December 2004 he was off to Doncaster Rovers, where he scored three times in eleven League appearances, three of which were as a substitute, before he returned on 6th February 2005. On 24th February 2005 he joined Barnsley for another loan spell and made his debut in a 4-1 win against Torquay United at Oakwell on 26th February 2005. He scored twice in eleven League games, one of which was from the bench, before returning at the end of the season. He had started three and been a substitute eight times in the League and started one League Cup game, but never scored in the time he was at United before finally, on 24th June 2005, he left Leeds for Darlington on a free transfer and at last got a sustained chance to play first-team football. Johnson had always had plenty of pace and was more than capable of getting onto the end of through balls to pressure the keeper and this showed in his first pre-season with Quakers. He also showed his versatility by also playing on the wing. He made his Darlington debut in a 1-1 away draw against Rushden and Diamonds on 6th August 2005 and netted his first goal for Quakers against Rochdale at Feethams in a 2-1 win. Johnson went on to score seven goals during his first campaign for Darlington but often figured on the wing. He made sixty-six League appearances for them, of which twenty-three were as substitute and hit the net nine times, as well as netting once in three starts in the League Cup and making three starts in the F.A. Cup and three starts and one game off the bench in other games, in his two seasons with the Quakers. He had agreed to join Wycombe Wanderers in January 2007 and even posed with a Wanderers shirt and did an interview for the club's website. But he got cold feet over the deal and changed his mind before the paperwork went through. Johnson's Darlington days were numbered and he made only two more appearances in eighteen games, both as substitute. He was among eleven players to be shown the door by Manager David Penney once the season was finished. He trained with Bradford City and for a time it seemed he would join them but he joined Hereford United on 8th August 2007, on a two month contract. He made his debut in the Carling Cup against Yeovil Town on 14th August 2007 as a eighty-fifth minute substitute for Lionel Ainsworth in a 4-1 home win and then broke into the first team, scoring his first goal for the club against Wycombe Wanderers on 4th December 2007, in the eighty ninth minute, to earn Hereford a 2-2 away draw. He put in some fine performances, particularly during Hereford's 3-1 win at Valley Parade against Bradford City, on 29th December 2007, where he was awarded "Man of the Match" and assisted in two of the three Hereford goals. His original contract was due to expire in November 2007, but he signed an extension until the end of that calendar year, which was then extended until the end of the 2007-08 season. Johnson scored United's winning goal in the seventy-second minutethat saw them progress past Tranmere Rovers into the 4th Round of the F.A. Cup on 16th January 2008. He played regularly as Hereford gained promotion to League One, but their stay in that Division was short and they were relegated at the end of the first season. On 21st April 2009 Johnson's contract was cancelled by mutual consent. He had scored five League goals in sixty-two games, of which thirty-two were as a substitute. He scored once in six F.A. Cup games, of which three were from the bench, made one start and had one game from the bench without scoring in the League Cup and made two Johnstone's Paint Trophy appearances without scoring. He signed a three month deal with Bury on 7th August 2009 but after one start and three games from the bench in the League, and a start in one Johnstone's Paint Trophy and one substitute appearance in the League Cup it was announced on 12th September 2009, that his month to month contract had been terminated. He signed for Halesowen Town in October 2009 and scored four times in twelve Evo-Stick Southern League starts and two games from the bench and two more in the Southern Cup, before joining Blue Square North side Solihull Moors on 12th February 2010. He made his debut in a 4-1 away win at Redditch United on 21st February 2010 when he scored in the forty-sixth and fifty-fourth minute and quickly followed that up with another two goal salvo in a 3-0 home win over Hyde United on 3rd March 2010 when he scored in the twenty-fourth and seventy-third minute. He scored four goals in seven games before, on 19th March 2010 he returned to his Yorkshire roots when he signed for Unibond Premier League side Guiseley. He scored four goals in eight starts and three games from the bench in the League and a further goal from one start in the Cup. He made a scoring start at Stocksbridge as he scored in the sixty-third minute before being replaced in the second half as Guiseley had a strong finish to the season which saw them win the League. He went back to Solihull Moor on loan and after three months there it was made permanent on 3rd January 2011. He scored seven goals in twenty-two starts and one game from the bench in the 2010-11 season and no goals from six starts and eight games from the bench in 2011-12. He joined Hinckley United on 19th March 2012 and made his debut, as a sixty-fifth minute substitute for Andrew Gooding, the following day against his former team. There was always plenty of competition for the full-back positions and with the emergence of Paul Reaney and Willie Bell, he moved to Lincoln City in June 1962. He stayed at Leeds for three seasons before departing for York City in September 1953. Recommended by former Leeds keeper, Glan Letheran, he joined Leeds as a schoolboy in 1994 and became a Trainee on leaving school. In the 1995-96 season he made one substitute appearance for each of the Youth and Reserve teams. He represented Wales at Under-Eighteen and was part of the Leeds Northern Intermediate League champion and F.A. Youth Cup winning side of 1996-97, scoring fourteen goals in starting seventeen and coming off the benchfour times in the League and scoring once in three starts and six games from the bench in the Cup. He went on to start eleven and come off the bench twelve times in the League before being sold to Leicester City for £3.5 million on 13th December 2000 at a time when Leeds had an excess of talented midfielders. He was capped thirteen times by Wales. Unfortunately his career was cut short when firstly he sustained a knee ligament injury in January 2002, which sidelined him for a year. On his return he sustained a back injury and, despite several operations, he had to retire on 1st June 2004 after scoring once in nineteen starts and eight games from the bench for the Foxes. One of United's greatest all-time strikers, Jones started as an apprentice with Sheffield United before turning professional for them in November 1962. He rose through their Reserves and into the first team where he gained England Under-Twenty-three caps. He had scored sixty-three League goals in one hundred and forty-nine starts when Don Revie saw him as the answer to his centre-forward problem and brought him to Elland Road in September 1967. A strong, durable and immensely talented striker, he took on many challenges which resulted in injuries as he never gave less than 100% in any game he played, as he scored many goals for himself and created even more for others. He only gained three England Caps, which was a travesty, but, as his career wore on, the injuries took a toll and he had to make a premature end. Nevertheless he still scored one hundred and eleven goals in three hundred and seven starts and five from the bench in all competitions. He started his football career with Conference League side, Wealdstone in 1984. He scored twice in thirty-eight League starts during his two seasons there. At the end of the 1985-86 English season he went to Sweden to play for second tier side IFK Holmsund as a central defender, scoring one goal in twenty-two League games as they won the League. He turned down a lucrative offer from them to remain, but returned to have a trial with Wimbledon in November 1986. He soon became a regular and helped them win the F.A. Cup in 1988. He had scored nine goals in seventy-seven League games, when Howard Wilkinson paid £650,000 to take him to Leeds. He was barely there for a year, but was instrumental in Leeds gaining promotion from the Second Division in 1989-90 as champions. However, Howard Wilkinson was team building in his quest for higher honours and the arrival of Gary McAllister from Leicester City signalled the end for Jones and, after five goals in forty-six League games, two of which were from the bench, he was sold to Sheffield United on 11th September 1990 for £700,000. He did not stay long at Bramall Lane either, and after two goals in thirty-five League starts he was sold to Chelsea for £575,000 in August 1991. Similarly he only remained at Stamford Bridge for a year and after netting four goals in forty-two League starts he returned to Wimbledon for £700,000 in September 1992. In his second spell he scored twelve goals in one hundred and seventy-seven games, making it over two hundred and fifty games in his two spells for the Dons. He left Wimbledon for £500,000 to become player/coach with Queens Park Rangers in March 1998, but it did not work out and, after not getting the vacant manager's position, he retired in June 1999, having played just nine League games. After starting with Blantyre Thistle, he joined Morton in 1968 and had scored once in seven starts and three games from the bench in the Scottish League before being signed by Leeds on Bobby Collins' recomendation on 24th October 1970. Just short of 6ft he played his way through to the first team, making his debut in March 1971. He went on to score forty-eight goals in one hundred and eighty-three starts and forty games from the bench in all competitions. He left for Manchester United in July 1978, where he netted thirty-seven goals in one hundred and nine League starts. He then went to AC Milan. He scored twelve goals in fifty two League games at the San Siro. He joined Hellas Verona for the 1983-84 season but injuries restricted him to one goal in twelve League games. He returned to England in August 1984, joining Southampton and he scored twelve goals in forty-eight starts in the League, before moving to Bristol City in February 1987. At Ashton Gate he scored eight goals in fifty-seven League games, of which nineteen were from the bench. He took over as caretaker manager, which set him off on a career as Manager or Assistant Manager with a succession of clubs for over twenty years. A Keighley born player, who had intentions of helping Trinidad and Tobago reach the next World Cup, sat on the bench for one game before making his debut as a substitute with nine minutes left on the second occasion. He was again unused on his third time on the bench but in his fourth game he started at inside left and played all but the final fifteen minutes when he gave way to Stephen Nicholson. It is not thought that he played for a League team or represented his adopted country.
